Cost Control &
Reporting
Inevitably changes occur on every project, so providing regular updates on current and potential expenditure keeps the client in control of financial decisions and ensures the project is delivered to the agreed budget. Therefore, expertise in managing project costs is an important project activity. With a proactive approach in the early identification of change and providing advice on mitigating overspends, we actively work with the design team to manage the budget.
Through implementing a robust change control procedure, we allow clients to stay in control of instructions that will have an effect on both the programme and budget. Such instructions require a forensic approach to assess the works completed, variations, valuations and certification, as well as assessing in detail the contract conditions and liabilities (for each contracting party) and any claims for loss of expense, prolongation etc.
As with contract valuations and certification, we usually provide our final accounting services as part of the role as cost consultant and/or as part of our wider role(s). Through detailed and regular cost management and cost reporting throughout the construction phase, we ensure the agreement of the final account in a fluent and uncomplicated event. We are also often engaged by either a client team or a contractor to independently assess or prepare a final account for a project in which we had no involvement.
