Building Safety Act–DLUHC Provides Secondary legislation & guidance for Building Control

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has published a suite of secondary legislation that applies to the new building control framework and was needed to specify how the Building Safety Act requirements would be fully implemented.

Until now there has been no detail on how the Government and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) will put the new requirements into effect however this latest publication details how they will implement the new building control regime for higher-risk buildings and wider changes to the building regulations for all buildings.

The key issues covered are:

  • Dutyholder roles and responsibilities
  • Management of the golden thread
  • The new gateway regime
  • Transitional provisions for higher-risk buildings

It has also issued four sets of Regulations before Parliament which are:
