Harris Associates Reaches Milestone: Over 100 FRAEWS Conducted Nationwide

Published: 14/07/2024

Harris Associates, a leading name in building and project consultancy in the UK, has reached a significant milestone, having conducted over 100 FRAEWS (Fire Risk Assessments of External Wall Systems) on residential and commercial  buildings across the country. This achievement underscores their commitment to enhancing fire safety and supporting the built environment in navigating complex regulatory requirements.

Expertise and Dedication in Fire Safety

Harris Associates’ success in conducting over 100 FRAEWS is a testament to their expertise and dedication to fire safety. Fire Risk Assessments of External Wall Systems are critical in ensuring that buildings meet the necessary safety standards, particularly in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, which highlighted the importance of stringent fire safety measures in high-rise residential buildings.

Harris Associates is on the Homes England approved Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) Fire Risk Assessor Panel. This scheme funds the remediation of unsafe non-ACM cladding systems on residential blocks 11 to 18m high and the carrying out of a FRAEW is the first key requirement to achieve access to the MRS (CSS).

The in-house facade team at Harris Associates, are equipped with extensive knowledge and experience and conducts thorough assessments to identify potential fire hazards in the external wall systems of buildings. Their meticulous approach involves evaluating materials, construction methods, and the overall integrity of the external walls to ensure compliance with current fire safety regulations.

Harris Associates' detailed and expert FRAEWS have also contributed to the first groundbreaking BSA remediation order against a landlord enabling residents to win the first legal case of it's kind against their landlords for defective cladding. The skilled team is also responsible for numerous cladding remediation projects across England's residential and mixed-use developments.

Supporting Residential Safety Across the UK

Harris Associates’ extensive, nationwide reach of over 100 FRAEWS demonstrates their capability to adapt to different building types, local regulations, and specific client needs. By providing comprehensive and detailed fire risk assessments, Harris Associates has played a crucial role in enhancing the safety of countless residents.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Reaching this milestone is not just a numerical achievement but a reflection of Harris Associates’ commitment to safety, quality, and excellence. The firm’s ability to carry out over 100 FRAEWS highlights its proficiency in such a specialised field and its dedication to making buildings safer for their occupants.
