The Building Safety Regulator Publishes its first three year Strategic Plan
Published: 29/11/2023
The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has published its first three-year Strategic Plan that sets out how it will carry out building safety functions in its first three years of operation from April 2023 to March 2026. The plan describes the work the BSR has been established to deliver, explains how it will do so and what it aims to achieve.
The BSR wants residents to be safe where they live and aims to restore confidence in the safety and standards of all buildings, driving positive cultural change in the built environment industry.
BSR in England is part of HSE and was established under The Building Safety Act 2022 to:
- regulate higher-risk buildings
- raise safety standards of all buildings
- help professionals in design, construction, and building control, to improve their competence
The vision is "to create a built environment where everyone is competent and takes responsibility to ensure buildings are of high quality and safe, so residents and other building users are confident that the tragedies of the past are never repeated"

It is still early days for this new regulatory body and we hope that the BSR has the expertise and competence to deliver on this strategic plan which will bring some much-needed improvements to areas of building quality and safety.
